VIJAY in VIL
The film was originally titled 'Vil' that is also the title of SJ Suryah's film, so people wondered how the same title could be used for Vijay's film. Now it is clearly titled 'Villu,' and answers all the unanswered questions.
Supposed to be a Hindi film re-make, the shooting for 'Villu' starts today. Nayantara is the heroine and Vijay as usual has the unshaven look of 4 days stubble.
Ravi Varman, who is directing 'Moscowin Kaveri' is the cinematographer of 'Villu.' Devisriprasad has already started composing the music. They could not get Prakashraj's call sheet in 'Kuruvi' and have already got it now at the start of the film.
The Vadivelu-Vijay combo was also not possible for 'Kuruvi' and was spoken about as something missing.
The name is Villu and its official. Vijay’s next movie with Prabudeva has been named Villu and has started its shooting in Pazhani. Villu said to be a racy movie with all the ingredients Vijay fans will love has Ilayathalapathi Vijay and Nayantara playing the lead roles. Prabudeva directs the flick and Devi Sri Prasand will make Vijay and Nayan dance to his tunes.
Hence the final title of the movie Villu. Hope the title proves lucky for the Vijay-Prabudeva combination and they can repeat their Pokkiri success.
After the lukewarm response received for Kuruvi, Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay is out on his next mission ‘Villu’ to be directed by Prabhu Deva. It has been reported that the team is charged up to make Villu a great hottie just like their previous project Pokkiri.
Nayanthara will be teaming up with Vijay as heroine for the first time though she did an item number earlier in Sivakasi. ACTOR Vijay will enter his 35th year this Sunday . While meeting him on the D-Day is reason enough to cheer his fans, the actor seems to have yet another plan up his sleeve. He will unveil the flag for his Akila Indiya Vijay Rasigar Narpani Mandram on that day.
If that wasn’t interesting enough, the flag that the Ilaya Thalapthy launches will bear a striking similarity to the one that Rajini’s fans have for their association. While Rajini’s flag had Light Blue, White and Red with the Superstar’s image imprinted in a star in it, Vijay’s flag is said to be in Light Blue and White with Vijay’s face over it.
Likewise, another actor to have a fan club flag was Vijayakanth, who later used it as his party’s flag. The same goes for Sarath Kumar too and this new move by Vijay has, expectedly , raised eyebrows about his political aspirations.
With over 45 movies spanning 16 years in kollywood, Vijay had the lover boy tag attached to him until Thiru malai happened in 2003. Establishing him further as a hero the next year was Ghilli, directed by Dharani which went on to become a blockbuster. From then, the actor went from strength to strength, with hits like Thirupaachi, Sivakasi and Pokkiri, which came to soar his career after a dud Aathi.
The Ghilli crew joined hands once again to recreate the Ghilli magic but didn’t quite succeed in Kuruvi, which is his latest release. The actor has just begun work on his next project, Villu, along with Nayantara directed by Prabhu Deva.

Prabhu Deva's forthcoming directorial venture has finally been named. Earlier, the film was titled Singam but director Hari made it clear that he had registered the name. With this, Prabhu Deva and Vijay were on the lookout for an appropriate name. Everything seems to be settled now with the team finally zeroing in on a suitable title. Vijay's next film will be called Vil!
That apart, seems like Vijay has missed his combination scenes with Vadivelu in Kuruvi so much that he left no stones unturned to make sure he is a part of Vil. According to sources close to producers, Vadivelu has been roped in for Vil for jaw dropping astronomical sums. It is also said that Vadivelu has had to amend his commitments for other already agreed projects to make room for Vijay.
Nayan plays opposite Vijay for Vil, touted to be an action adventure film, produced by Ayngaran International. Prakash Raj and Biju Menon are also included in the cast and Vil will have Ravi Varman’s camera and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. The venture will go on floors June 7th onwards.
Villu’s midnight grind!
After wrapping up the first schedule in Palani, the second schedule of the Prabhu Deva directed, Vijay starrer is underway in Chennai from July 1, 2008. The shoots are being carried out with stringent security measures in and around the Nandambakkam area late into the night. We worked our sources and found out that a few hair- raising stunt sequences are being canned in Nandambakkam.
The crew is expected to complete the schedule in 15 days after which it would travel to Thirunelveli for filming some significant sequences. Also, Nayan will join the crew during this leg of the shooting, reveal sources.

As already known the Malayalam hit film ‘Kadha Parayumbol’ is remade in Tamil as ‘Kuselan’ though with slight changes in the script to suit the Tamil audience. The film pictures around two dear friends who have suffered a lot in their young age. As time passes they get separated. One goes on to become a super star.
The other one gets married, has three children and is leading a hand-to-mouth existence. As fate can have it the rich and popular superstar comes to the same village where his friend lives, for a shooting. But the poor friend refuses to meet him. The actor coming to his friend’s small home to meet him and what happens after that forms the story.
News about Kuselan has been hard to come by. We have had to be content by and large by location reports that were filtering in every now and then. But we never got to know the inside details of the movie, even stills were not released regularly, something that is unusual for a P. Vasu movie. In a press conference on Wednesday Vasu was back to his ways of being generous with information about his movie. He said that he has never held back news or stills about his movies but had to adopt a rather strict method with Kuselan due to certain circumstances. However the period of secrecy is now over and Kuselan the movie is set to create waves.
In the first major news he gave out during the evening was that the shooting for Kuselan has been wrapped after a schedule of 82 days. Almost 75% of the entire movie was shot within the
Giving more details about the making of Kuselan, P. Vasu said that both the Tamil and Telugu versions have been shot identically, i.e, the camera angles, shot taking or other details have not been changed for any version. They had shot both the versions simultaneously, one shot after the other, thus cutting out any time lag. That explains how a bilingual could be completed in just 82 days. This is testimony to P. Vasu’s rich directorial experience.
Dispelling doubts about Superstar making just an effective cameo, P. Vasu said that the movie will have everything that Rajinikanth fans expect, the style, the punch dialogues, the rich songs, the fights and everything else. No Rajini fan will have to leave the theater feeling disappointed. Rajini’s role in Kuselan is much more than just a cameo, it is a role with equal importance as of the central character and will appear at various points in the movie. Speaking further Vasu added that it has always been his habit to include a song that extols the virtues of labor, (remember the Devuda Devuda song in Chandramukhi) and this time too the tradition will be followed with Rajini featuring in a song that speaks about the contribution of each and every technician beginning from the light boys in the making of a movie. This is a special, considering that Tamil cinema celebrates 75 years this year. Vasu was also lavish in his praise for G.V.Prakash saying that he had done a wonderful job both with the music and the background score, something worthy of the A.R.Rahman legacy. Even the Superstar was reportedly astonished at the young man’s talent and maturity that belied his age. We will know for sure on the 30th.
On the production front, Pyramid Saimira has bid 60 crores for the rights of Kuselan which is a very positive sign. Talks are between Pyramid and Kavithalaya and the deal is expected to be sealed soon. If everything falls in place, Kuselan will hit theaters before the end of July, that’s less than a month away. So, gear up for another big celebration after the Dasavatharam euphoria.

With the shoot for Rajinikanth’s ‘Kuselan’ completed, the film is expected to be released in the last week of July.

The story revolves around the friendship between a village barber and his friend, who is a mega star. The star comes to the village to shoot for his film, and what happens there is the rest of the story.
In ‘Katha Parayumpol,’ Mammootty and Sreenivasan played the lead roles.
Rajinikanth plays the role of the superstar, while Pasupathy acts as a barber.
Meena plays the wife of the barber, while Nayanthara pairs with Rajinikanth. Actor Prabhu, too, plays an important role. The camera is handled by Aravind Krishna and the music is scored by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
According to Mr. Vasu, shooting for both Tamil and Telugu versions of the film is over. “We have shot for nearly 81 days, and I must give credit to my cameraman Aravind Krishna for his speedy work. We want to release the audio on June 30 and the film in July.
In a song, ‘Cinema Cinema,’ we are highlighting the hard work done by those in the film fraternity.”
It was written by lyricist Valee and sung by Shankar Mahadevan. ‘MGR Sivaji Sir NTR Rajkumaru Evargal Eruntha Cinema, Inimel Idhupol Varuma,’ the song goes on. To mark the 75 years of Tamil cinema, I wanted to do some thing, and I think I have done it, in my small way, through this song.”
Kuselan is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Katha Parayumbol. The remake, directed by P.Vasu has Superstar Rajinikanth with Pasupathy and Meena, playing the main roles. Others in the cast include Nayantara, Vadivelu and Viyapuri.
The music of the film is by G.V.Prakash and is prodced under K. Balachander's Kavithalaya Productions. Kuselan is also being simultaneously in Telugu with Jagapathy Babu enacting Pasupathy's role. The movie is titled Kathanayakadu in Telugu.
The Malayalam film had Mammootty and Sreenivasan in the main roles. Though in the original film Mammooty's role was restricted to just three scenes and one song, in the Tamil remake Rajni's role has been extended to over an hour.

Pyramid Saimira bought the film rights of Kuselan (Kuseladu in Telugu) for 64 crore rupees and it is going to distribute the film in Tamil and Telugu.
Kuselan is a remake of a Malayalam movie Katha Parayumbol. K. Balachander’s Kavithalaya and Seven Arts found it interesting and decided to remake it in Tamil and Telugu with the title Kuselan and Kuseladu respectively.
In this movie directed by P. Vasu, the highlight is Rajinikanth who appears as himself. Pasupathi, Meena, Vadivelu, Nayantara are also in the cast. The film’s shooting is going on in
Superstar Rajinikanth's forthcoming bilingual movie Kuselan creates
a new record in business while it is in shooting stage. The domestic
and overseas rights of the film were sold out for a record price of
Rs. 100 plus crores, as Box Office sources reveal.
There are 6 corporate companies competed severely to get the
domestic rights of Kuselan Tamil and Telugu and finally Pyramid
Saimira won in the race. The present market giant acquired the
distribution rights of the bilingual for Rs.64 crore. According to
the contract, the company will either release directly or sell the
area rights of the film in Minimum guarantee method in Indian
boundaries, as it likes.
The overseas rights of the film has been acquired by none other than
Ayangaran-Eros International,the producer of Rajinikanth's
forthcoming grandeur movie Robot, for a whopping Rs.40 crores. But
the company is yet to confirm the figure and business deal that they
have made for the film.
Remember, Kuselan is a medium budget film and Superstar Rajini had
allotted just 20 days call sheet for this project and he is going to
appear in the enlarged role of Mammootty in Katha Parayumbol, the
original version of Kuselan.
According to director Vasu, he had completed nearly 40 percent of
the shooting and 60 percent of Rajini's portions including two songs
with the Superstar. Now the crucial climax portions is to be shot in
Alleppy and Pollachi next week.
Kuselan will be hit the screens by the second week of August, if
everything goes as per Rajini-Vasu's plan.

Today Daily Thanthi says that Kuselan has been purchased by Pyramid Saimira for a whopping of 65 crores in competitive bid.
